Hello and welcome to the SuperSeniors website.
As Minister for Seniors, I am committed to being a strong advocate for older New Zealanders and to ensuring you all are able to age positively in age-friendly communities.
I want more seniors to be connected, to have access to the information they need, to be more independent and to lead meaningful lives.
This website will act as a gateway where you can access information that is specifically tailored to be useful and relevant for seniors.
While you can find information about your entitlements and the support you can receive from the Government, including SuperGold card discounts, this website will also provide you with information that will help you make the most of your senior years.
There are articles and links on volunteering, how to use technology, keeping fit, remaining healthy and staying connected to your community.
We have also approached a number of groups which offer services to seniors, and will make regular contributions for the site, and provide you with information about the services they can offer in a community near you.
I hope you enjoy SuperSeniors and keep coming back to see the latest news and events, and I encourage you to check out the SuperSeniors Facebook and Twitter accounts.
You may have noticed, my title has changed and the word citizens has now gone.
Like other portfolios, such as Youth, Maori and Women, we've modernised the term so it's fit for a modern purpose.
Honourable Maggie Barry ONZM
Minister for Seniors
